Why did you choose to come to The Bulmershe School?
I was first drawn to Bulmershe when the Technology department hosted an event over summer, where we made and fired rockets on the green. This was my first ever experience of the Bulmershe school and, as a young kid, it completely captivated me. It showed me that the Bulmershe school was so much more than just textbooks and exams, but rather a place where education came alive.
How has The Bulmershe School inspired you to strive for your aspirations and dreams?
Bulmershe has taught me to grab every opportunity with both hands. Since Y10 I have grown a real passion for economics and the teachers here have inspired me to turn this passion into a goal. Their encouragement and belief in me have motivated me to pursue an Economics and Finance degree at one of my dream universities - something I would have never imagined when I first joined.
How do you feel the co-curricular (extra-curricular clubs, trips, opportunities) experience at The Bulmershe School has benefited you?
Completing my Duke of Edinburgh’s Award from Bronze to Gold has been one of the most memorable journeys at Bulmershe. From getting lost on our expeditions to celebrating our achievements in the end, each stage brought along new challenges, as well as memories that will last a lifetime. On top of all of this, Bulmershe offers countless opportunities, each with its own incredible benefits. Whether you're interested in academic enrichment, personal growth or bonding with friends, the Bulmershe school has something tailored to each and every person.
What would you say is your favourite moment so far in your time at The Bulmershe School?
It's so hard to choose just one moment from my time here at the Bulmershe school, as I've had the opportunity to make so many great memories, with incredible people. However, my expeditions on Gold DofE really encapsulate everything I love about the school: teamwork, resilience, laughter and the constant encouragement to keep pushing beyond what I thought I could achieve.
What is your favourite subject and why?
I have always considered economics to be my favourite subject and studying it at A-Level has only strengthened this passion. The economics department is made up of incredible teachers who share a genuine passion for the subject, making every lesson engaging. The way the content is taught encourages a deeper curiosity, causing me to leave each lesson feeling even more inspired by the world of economics.
What advice would you give to a student about to join The Bulmershe School?
Don’t be afraid! Before I started, I was so nervous about making new friends, handling the new workload and even just finding my way around school, but everything turned out perfectly. It's so much easier and more enjoyable to just remember that everyone is in the same boat, so don't be scared to speak to new people, ask questions or raise your hand in class. The opportunities here are countless and the sooner you get involved, the quicker you will feel at home.
